C is for Colorado is the favorite book in our house for the 2nd straight month! My three boys are 2, 4 and 5 and they want me to read it to them every night and sometimes again in the morning. My 5 year old now can read most if it without me and enjoys reading to his younger brothers. The pictures draw the attention of each one in different ways and seems to keep them focused and looking forward to what is on the next page. We travel a lot within the state and what most interests the boys are the pictures of all the places the recognize as well as the places they now want to see. As we read, we reminisce about the special times we have had and they plan our next trip to see something from the book. I can't think of another book we have read as a family that creates so much discussion and family interaction. Even the two year old likes to pick his favorite page and asks to go to that page. We rarely go page by page and instead go from favorite to favorite page. When we leave the house with a backpack of toys and entertainment I am always sure to include this book in my arsenal because I know I can always count on being able to pull it out and engage their attention. It's funny that we never seem to leave this behind at the doctor's office or a visit to grandpa's like we do so many of our kids books and cars. This book is too special to our family to lose. I know there are a few other books in this series and I plan to get them before we visit that state. I very much like that these books were written by kids in the Boys and Girls Clubs. There is also a trivia guide and study guide that further add to the usefulness and enjoyment of the book and I like that I don't have to do the work of helping my boys get the most out of their reading time.
